Could your legal expertise unlock new commercial opportunities in renewable energy?

Vårgrønn
Vårgrønn is a Norway-based offshore wind company powering the energy transition through development, construction, operation, and ownership of offshore wind assets. Vårgrønn is a joint venture between the energy company Plenitude (Eni) and the Norwegian energy entrepreneur and investor HitecVision. At the heart of everything we do are our core values: responsible, collaborative, and passionate. These values drive our success, powered by a diverse and dedicated team. We are committed to building a supportive environment that fuels our growth, fosters collaboration, and helps us achieve our goals - while having fun and being creative. Our new EPC Legal Manager will play a key role in enabling smart, risk-aware business decisions and supporting sustainable growth through strategic legal guidance across our projects and organization. With offices in Stavanger, Oslo, and London, we are expanding to meet our strategic goals and lead the way in offshore wind across Northern Europe.
About the Position
Vårgrønn is seeking an experienced and commercially savvy EPC Legal Manager to join our legal team and play a pivotal role in driving the renewable energy transition. In this role, you will directly support the development and execution of our offshore wind projects—starting with the pioneering Green Volt project. This will be done through expert legal guidance, such as risk-assessing, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and executing contracts and agreements across Vårgrønns project portfolio. You will be representing Vårgrønn`s interests and provide legal advice in the development and execution of EPC and supply chain contracts. This position reports directly to the SVP Legal, Negotiations & Compliance. The role can be based in either Stavanger or Oslo, depending on the candidate's location, as we have offices in both locations.

Your role will cover:
  • Legal advisory: Act as Vårgrønn's legal counsel across EPC, supply chain, and various contractual matters, ensuring alignment with legal best practices and company interests.
  • Contract negotiation & strategy: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contract formats, identifying financial and legal risks while safeguarding Vårgrønn’s commercial objectives.  Apply joint venture contracting principles to develop and refine Vårgrønn-specific contracting standards and best practices.
  • Project support: Manage legal aspects of project financing, timelines, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Cost & risk optimization: Proactively reduce risk and explore cost-saving opportunities during contract development and execution.

Who are you?
We’re looking for a candidate who is motivated by the unique opportunities within the renewable energy sector, more specifically offshore wind, and thrives working in a dynamic environment. In this role, it’s important to take initiative and demonstrate sound judgment in complex situations. You’ll need to balance diverse stakeholder interests while building strong, collaborative relationships across project teams.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. We strive for a balanced composition of gender, age, and diverse cultural and experiential backgrounds among our employees. A diverse team brings a variety of perspectives, contributing to our innovation and success.

Skills, qualifications and experience
We are looking for a Norwegian or UK-qualified practising lawyer with at least 10 years of experience in EPC and/or supply chain contracting, including active involvement in commercial negotiations. You should have strong knowledge of FIDIC and other offshore contract frameworks relevant to the renewables sector. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required, and proficiency in Norwegian is a plus.

Don’t let a few unmet requirements hold you back from applying! If you have a unique background and believe you can make a valuable contribution to our team, we’d love to hear what you can bring to the table.

What’s in it for you?
  • An engaging work environment in a young company with a shared mission: to power the energy transition.
  • Challenging, varied, and meaningful work tasks.
  • Room and encouragement to be independent and innovative.
  • Flexibility in how you approach tasks and projects.
  • A strong focus on work-life balance, with initiatives in place to support your well-being.
  • Investment in your professional and personal development.
  • A wide range of employee benefits designed to support your overall well-being.
